Rights & Responsibilities: A Handbook for Students & Parents
Each day in Newport News Public Schools we focus on one mission: ensuring that all students graduate college, career and citizen-ready. To this end, the experiences in our schools prepare students for their roles as a learner, a future employee and a contributing citizen in the 21st century.
Our students, staff, and family and community members work together to reach this goal and to create school environments that are safe and supportive for all young people. By establishing clear expectations for behavior and supporting programs that encourage and build positive relationships, Newport News Public Schools is building and nurturing youth development, one of the school division's benchmarks for student success.
This handbook contains useful information for the students and families of Newport News Public Schools including required notices, permission forms and the Student Code of Conduct. Families are encouraged to review the contents of this handbook with their students and keep it as a reference throughout the school year.
Please note: This Handbook is subject to change without notice. Newport News Public Schools reserves the right to revise its policies in accordance with the law.
