Our Vision
The library is like a portal, a gateway to resources that can help you explore and discover. A place where we encourage curiosity to help find the information you need and spark your imagination. The library is a place where we promote a love for reading.
Our Goals
We are committed to using inquiry-based learning to promote research, cultivate a love of reading, and encourage responsible digital citizenship. Therefore, library media specialists work with the learning community to grow their capacity in the following areas.
-
Learners will explore by connecting to prior knowledge, gaining background knowledge, and surveying sources of information. (Critical Thinking)
-
Learners will work with others to develop questions or hypotheses to identify a focus. (Collaboration)
-
Learners collect information from reliable sources, take notes and credit sources, and evaluate the credibility of those sources. (Citizenship)
-
Learners will demonstrate understanding by constructing knowledge to analyze, organize, synthesize, evaluate, and interpret information. (Critical Thinking)
-
Learners will create a product to communicate their new understandings. (Communication)
-
Learners will develop emotional intelligence by reading stories that offer mirrors and windows into their worlds. (Citizenship)
-
Learners will engage with a variety of texts and sources to spark interest and recognize the value of reading. (Communication, Critical Thinking)

Our Instructional Approach
Through innovative programs, resources, and partnerships, we aim to inspire curiosity, creativity, and adaptability, providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to confidently navigate the complexities of the modern world. Librarians will support students in:
-
Building new knowledge through inquiry, critical thinking, identifying problems, and developing problem-solving strategies.
-
Demonstrating an understanding of and commitment to inclusiveness and respect for diversity in the learning community.
-
Working effectively with others to broaden perspectives and work toward common goals.
-
Making meaning for oneself and others by collecting, organizing, and sharing resources of personal relevance. Discovering and innovating a growth mindset developed through experience and reflection. Demonstrating safe, legal, and ethical creation of and sharing of knowledge and products independently while engaging in a community of practice and an interconnected world.
