FMLA and Medical Absences at NNPS

NNPS Benefits manages our Family Medical Leave (FMLA), Medical Leave of Absence (MLOA), and Short Term Disability (STD) programs.

FMLA provides for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave to eligible employees for the following qualifying reasons:

  • Your own serious health condition (including pregnancy)
  • To care for your newborn child
  • The placement of your adopted or foster child
  • To provide care for a qualifying family member with a serious health condition
  • To care for a covered service member who becomes injured or ill in the line of duty

FMLA also includes a special leave entitlement that permits eligible employees to take up to 26 weeks of leave to care for a covered servicemember during a single 12-month period.

If you have additional questions or need assistance with this process, please reach out to the M'Kayla Brown, Benefits Analyst for FMLA and Short Term Disablity. Email NNPS Benefits at [email protected] or call (757) 881-5061. We are here and happy to guide you through the process.
