Frequently Asked Questions about Device Procedures
Welcome to the 2022-23 School year! We have created these Frequently Asked Questions for you to make you aware of current device procedures.
Q. My child was assigned a NNPS computing device for the school year. Are they required to bring it to school every day?
A. Yes. Students with assigned take-home devices are required to bring the device in its protective case with its charger to school every day unless instructed otherwise by their teacher or school.
Q. My child lost their device. What should do we do?
A. You should make every effort to locate the device, charger, and case. If the equipment cannot be located, an invoice will be presented, and you may be responsible for replacement fees. (Repair and Replacement Fees are listed in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook).
Q. My child's device was stolen. What should we do?
A. The local Police Department should be contacted, and a report should be filled out. The report should then be brought to school and presented to Technology staff to be assigned a new device.
Q. My child's device has been damaged. What should we do?
A. NNPS can repair most damaged devices and get them working again, however if there has been negligence or willful destruction of the device or accessories on the student's part, an invoice will be presented, and you may be responsible for replacement fees. (Repair and Replacement Fees are listed in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook).
Q. What if my child forgets their device at home?
A. We ask that your family helps the student make a habit of bringing their device to school every day unless otherwise instructed by their teacher or school. NNPS has a limited number of spare devices that are available for students that are having their device repaired. If your student forgets their device at home, we make no guarantee that they will have access to a device during that school day.
Q. What should we do if my child's device or learning software isn't functioning correctly?
A. Your child should let their school know that the device has a problem right away, and then, following their school's procedure, present the device to the school Technology staff for repair.
Q. My student is leaving the district. What should we do with the device?
A. Please return all assigned devices along with their cases and chargers to your school. If the device is not returned, you may be responsible for replacement fees. (Repair and Replacement Fees are listed in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook).
Q. May my student paint, write on, or put stickers on their assigned device?
A. Student's should not deface their assigned devices. Please treat them with respect and take care to keep them clean and secure, and free of stickers, writing, painting, etc.
