Why are you passionate about supporting fellow teachers?
As a new teacher who was a career switcher, I had the most wonderful master teachers who took me under wing, mentored me, and invited me into their classrooms to watch and learn. Their support made all the difference to me when things got rough. I considered leaving the profession during the early days as a new teacher, but I stayed because I knew I could talk to them about my experiences, go to them for suggestions, and learn by watching them teach. I credit these teachers with being the support I needed to continue to grow in education, and I enjoy providing this support to fellow teachers in the hope that it will encourage them to continue to grow in our profession, too.

What word best describes you as a teacher and why?
Resilient. As the lead librarian in a very busy high school library, I have learned to be resilient. There is not one single day that resembles the day before it. Our library has classes being taught, students looking for books to check out, students using the MakerSpace, students eating their lunch and visiting with one another, and teachers asking for help in various content areas all happening at the same time. It is a dynamic place to be, and I love it!

What do you love most about teaching?
I love seeing the academic, social, and emotional growth that students make within an academic school year. I love building healthy relationships with students and seeing them graduate college, career, and citizen-ready. This is the main reason I return every year.

Why do you love working in NNPS?
I love working for NNPS because this division gives many employees an opportunity to advance within the division.
