Mandatory Cultural Competency Training and Licensure Requirements

As required by Code of Virginia § 22.1-298.7, no later than the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, each school board employee, including teachers, leaders, and other licensed staff, must complete cultural competency training or instruction. In addition, effective July 1, 2023, every person seeking initial licensure or renewal of a license shall complete instruction or training in cultural competency. You can access the training here: culturalcpd.emediava.org.

Retrieving Licensure Documents

Effective June 21, 2023, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is no longer printing licenses or requirements letters and evaluations for provisional licenses. To obtain a copy of your license or requirement letter/evaluation, you must register for an eGOV account and retrieve the document(s) electronically.
